Solar thermal arrays are a group of glazed flat plate solar collectors, which are insulated, weatherproofed boxes that contain a dark absorber plate under a glass or polymer cover. Generally mounted on the roof, collectors absorb the sun's energy and transfer that energy into water bearing copper pipes. A pump circulates water through these pipes, supplying the residence with hot water.
