Hot water recirculation ensures that hot water is available instantly at all times. By circulating hot water water through hot water pipes, the water does not have a chance to cool off.

By having hot water available at all times, homes can cut down on water usage by eliminating the need to let water run until it heats up. As a trade off, extra energy is needed to keep the water in the pipes hot, but this energy can be minimized by using a thermostatically controlled circulation pump mounted after the last fixture.
